XB-21
Somewhere in the Eastern bloc an industrial accident, people organize themselves and start the decontamination. Alternating loops of abstract images and disaster, characters with gas masks wander in the rubble. The artifice of orchestrated calm is reworked, the material manipulated by photochemical processes and the image in a performative mode is put in tension with analog sound.
The work is based on images found in 16mm and passed through different processes in the film laboratory - printing of internegatives, flat printing of short loops in positive and negative.
The premiere was shown at Mains d’Oeuvres, Saint Ouen.
As part of Maison d’hôte numéro quatre, XB-21 will renew itself through a print that explores the transformation and expansion of cinematic performance in a publication that plays with binding and folding as visual elements that incorporate the basis of the performative act with multiple projectors.
